Nicola is a self-taught Pet Portrait and Wildlife Artist working in watercolour, pastels and coloured pencils who strives to reproduce realism in her work that makes you feel like you could reach out and touch the fur. Pet portraits are drawn with highly pigmented lightfast pencils and usually drawn on quality drafting film, alternatively on archival acid free paper ensuring you have a quality portrait that you can cherish for years to come. You can view her portfolio via her website, where you can also purchase original artwork, prints and greeting cards.
Her inspiration derives from the natural wildlife surrounding the Hertfordshire countryside. She’s had a love for vibrant colours from a very young age and uses this within her drawings. She loves creating pet portraits and wildlife drawings. She particularly loves capturing the eyes as they are the sole of the animal. She creates every day and is constantly learning new techniques.
After being medically retired at a young age, she was determined not to let my MS diagnosis hold me back in life and rekindled her love of art. Based in Hertfordshire she’s built a network of likeminded artists and art lovers to share her passion with and to support her own mental health.
She also runs a weekly Academy on-line and in person and monthly workshops out of her home in Letchworth. She’s passionate about teaching and ensuring what she’s learnt is passed on. It’s lovely to see all of the students creations coming to life. Please feel free to contact her with any questions, looking forward to hearing from you.
